Effective Date: [Date]Review/Renewal Date: [Date, e.g., 6 or 12 months from now]
PREAMBLE
This agreement is entered into lovingly and intentionally by [Partner A Name] and [Partner B Name]. We recognize that a strong, enduring partnership requires conscious effort, clear communication, and mutual respect. This document is not designed to be a legally binding contract, but rather a formal covenant—a roadmap for our shared life, a tool for accountability, and a reflection of our commitment to growth.
The “Hive" represents your shared home or partnership.
The "Honeybees" represent your hard work and communication.
The “Pinky Promises" are your serious, heartfelt commitments to one another.
SECTION 1, The Hive: FINANCES & WEALTH
We agree to manage our financial resources in a way that promotes trust, security, and equal partnership.
Shared Expenses: Responsibility for shared household expenses (rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries, and insurance) shall be allocated as follows:
[Option A: Split equally 50/50]
[Option B: Split proportionally based on income (e.g., Partner A pays X%, Partner B pays Y%)]
[Option C: Specific bills assigned to each partner]
Discretionary Spending: Each partner maintains complete autonomy over their personal accounts. However, any individual purchase exceeding $_______ shall require prior discussion and joint approval.
Shared Financial Goals: We commit to contributing $______ monthly toward our shared goals, prioritizing:
1) [e.g., Emergency fund savings]
2) [e.g., Vacation fund]
3) [e.g., Down payment for a home]
SECTION 2, The Honeybees: DOMESTIC LIFE & CHORES
We agree that a peaceful home requires an equitable division of labor and mutual respect for our living environment.
Division of Daily Chores: To ensure fairness, tasks are assigned based on preference and availability:
[Partner A] shall be primarily responsible for: [e.g., Cooking, grocery shopping, laundry]
[Partner B] shall be primarily responsible for: [e.g., Dishes, trash removal, deep cleaning bathrooms]
Standard of Cleanliness: We agree to maintain a living environment that is [insert agreed standard, e.g., tidy / organized, and immaculate]. Shared areas will be reset and decluttered every [e.g., Sunday evening].
Pet Care (If Applicable): Responsibilities regarding our pets (feeding, walking, vet visits) will be managed by [Name/Both partners] and funded via [personal/joint accounts].
SECTION 3, The Pinky Promises: TIME MANAGEMENT & INDEPENDENCE
We recognize that a healthy relationship requires a balance of quality time together and individual freedom.
Couples' Time: We commit to prioritizing our connection by scheduling at least [Number] dedicated date nights per [week/month].
Digital Boundaries: To remain present, we agree to enforce "screen-free zones" during [e.g., dinner time / the first 30 minutes after getting into bed].
Solo Time: We value each other’s independence. Each partner is entitled to approximately [Number] hours of uninterrupted solo time per week to pursue hobbies, rest, or see individual friends.
SECTION 4, The Honeybees: COMMUNICATION & CONFLICT RESOLUTION
We agree to manage disagreements with empathy, avoiding behaviors that cause emotional harm.
Fighting Fair: During disagreements, both partners strictly prohibit the use of yelling, name-calling, or bringing up past, resolved arguments.
The "Time-Out" Protocol: If an argument becomes too heated, either partner may call for a temporary break by saying the word "[Insert Word, e.g., 'Pause']". The other partner must respect this request. The partner who called the break is responsible for re-initiating the conversation within [e.g., 2 hours / 24 hours] to resolve the issue.
Relationship Check-ins: We will hold a structured relationship check-in every [e.g., first Sunday of the month] to discuss what is working well and what needs adjustment before resentment builds.
SECTION 5, The Pinky Promises: INTIMACY, AFFECTION & SUPPORT
We commit to nurturing our emotional and physical bond intentionally.
Emotional Reassurance: When [Partner A] is stressed, they best receive support through [e.g., words of affirmation / acts of service]. When [Partner B] is stressed, they best receive support through [e.g., physical touch / quality time].
Physical Affection: We agree to make physical closeness a priority, expressing affection daily through small gestures like hugging, kissing, and holding hands.
SECTION 6, The Honeybees: OUTER CIRCLES & BOUNDARIES
We protect the sanctity of our relationship from external pressures.
Family & In-Laws: We will make decisions regarding holiday splits and family visits together as a team. We agree not to share private details of our relationship struggles with our respective families without the other’s consent.
Social media: We agree to consult one another before posting sensitive personal photos or relationship milestones online.

SECTION 7, The Honeybees: TRAVEL AND LEISURE, ROADTRIPS
Travel can bring unfamiliar surroundings and expectations, so we will plan the journey together. Before leaving, we will decide who drives each leg of trip, where we will stop, and when we will take breaks to rest and recharge. While driving, we will remain calm and prioritize safety. Unless an issue is urgent, stressful, or emotionally charged discussions will wait until we are safely stopped.
1. Speak Clearly and Thoughtfully
· Express your intentions and feelings with honesty, clarity, and kindness.

2. Listen with Respect
· Listen attentively without interrupting.
· Acknowledge the speaker’s feelings and perspective so they feel heard and understood.
· Ask clarifying questions rather than making assumptions or jumping to conclusions.
3. Manage Emotions Constructively
· Remain calm and respectful, especially during disagreements.

SECTION 8, The Pinky Promises: AFTER HOURS AND BEDTIME
Bedrooms are comfortable zones for intimacy/exploration and rest for mutual happiness. This location should be understood as a safe place to enjoy one another’s time together.
Evening discussions and our bedroom discussions should have mutually determined limitations. Be considerate before discussing other previous relationships, other intimacy situations, experiences, or name dropping.
Warm, effective communication in intimate settings can strengthen trust and reduce misunderstandings.

· Communicate Desires and Boundaries Clearly
· Prioritize Active Listening
· Express Needs Using “I” Statements
· Frame Difficult Topics Softly and Playfully
Acts to Consider:

Pair words with reassurance: Support clear communication with warm, nonverbal gestures.
Check in regularly: Brief, honest conversations can resolve small misunderstandings before they build.
SECTION 9: AMENDMENTS & GRACE
The Grace Clause: We acknowledge that neither of us is perfect. Mistakes, oversights, and lapses in fulfilling these clauses will happen. We agree to meet these moments with forgiveness and constructive communication rather than punishment.
Review Schedule: This document expires in [Number] months. On that date, we will review our progress, celebrate our successes, and rewrite the agreement to fit our evolving needs.
